Innovation Borne of Need...
and Impatience
GeneNeer was established with a keen desire to address the needs of the agriculture supply chain by improving crop quality and resilience and introducing exciting, new game-changing crop varieties. But, its creativity was fueled by impatience at the long waiting times in the scientific process, even with the introduction of CRISPR® and similar technologies that could expedite gene editing, without sacrificing precision. The company has created and patented new methods of gene editing that now offer superior efficiency, precision, speed and affordability to crop enhancement, positioning itself as a leading solution provider for the global crop breeding industry.
Blazing New Trails
Dr. Kinneret Shefer – a Fulbright scholar, RNA researcher and entrepreneur – channeled her scientific work in RNA molecular structure and function into the development of enhanced crops. Her work evolved into an innovative and ground-breaking platform capable of simplifying and embellishing the process and safety of gene editing. She holds three patents in her name, has raised more than $3 million of venture capital and has signed collaboration agreements, including with a Tier-1 company. She teamed with Prof. Oded Shoseyov, Professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment, an expert in nanobiotechnology, and a serial entrepreneur in agritech. He has founded multiple companies, including FuturaGene (acquired by Suzano) and CollPlant (NASDAQ). Together, they co-founded GeneNeer.
Growing a Winning Team
The Team at GeneNeer is comprised mostly of Senior scientists with Ph.D.s and post-doctoral degrees, each bringing their niche expertise to the company’s small, but powerful laboratory. Supporting the team are senior business and scientific leaders recognized throughout the agritech gene-editing industry.
GeneNeer is backed by reputable international investors, including Tall Grass Ventures, an early-stage Agrifood Tech venture firm based in Canada, and 2b AHEAD Ventures, an investor in disruptive technologies from Germany. Both contribute their extensive expertise and networks to accelerate GeneNeer’s progress.
