GRIP:
Gene Regulation
and Induction Platform

A Breakthrough in Plant Gene Control

The Gene Regulation and Induction Platform (GRIP™) is GeneNeer’s next-generation, inducible gene-expression system, designed specifically for plant biotechnology innovation. Unlike conventional methods, GRIP™ uses a novel, inducible intron-splicing approach—allowing researchers and developers to turn targeted genes on or off exactly when and where they want – whether at defined developmental stages or under specific conditions. It is activated using a non-toxic and relatively affordable inducer, enabling safe and scalable implementation.

GRIP™ facilitates the precise control of gene expression, opening new possibilities for trait development, enhanced crop performance and sustainable agriculture. This patented next-generation gene-editing platform can be used to activate genes of interest or, alternatively, to induce the deletion or excision of marker genes – providing a powerful tool for molecular breeding, molecular farming and regulatory-friendly product development.

Precision Switch for Gene Activation

GRIP™ works through intron splicing activated by polyamine analogs – a non-invasive way to control gene activity without altering the final mRNA sequence or the gene’s core structure. This enables expression that is:

  • Inducible
  • Tissue-specific/ Developmentally-timed
  • Reversible

It also supports multiple gene activations at once, empowering complex trait stacking and pathway engineering.

GRIP sets a New Benchmark
for Crop Trait Expression

  • Platform for Trait Development
GRIP enables powerful applications such as selection marker gene removal, induction of desirable traits for cellular agriculture and molecular farming, reproductive trait control, and inducible Cas excision, offering a flexible and precise system for advanced genome engineering workflows.
  • Precision Control
Gene expression can be activated or silenced precisely when and where needed, whether in research or greenhouse.
  • Minimal Leakiness
GRIP exhibits low background activity, reducing unintended gene expression and/or stress on the plant’s physiology, while improving system reliability.
  • Versatile Induction Methods
Inducers can be applied through multiple delivery routes, such as root drenching, foliar spray, culture media or topical application, allowing flexibility across experimental and commercial use cases.
  • Broad Compatibility
GRIP is applicable to both endogenous genes and transgenes, enabling its use in diverse plant systems with native regulatory elements.
  • Proven Across Crops
The system has been successfully validated in Arabidopsis, tobacco and potato, confirming its feasibility in both model and commercial species.
